Repelling gear

At last I volunteer for a small Fire dept whitch is trying to start a rope rescue team.

Which includes recently leanring to spell.

Otherwise i'll take a look at www.ccmrecsue.com & www.ropetshartescue.com to start, along with the NFPA website. I think your time would be better spent learning about writing grant proposals than trytin to solicit gear here. You would have no way of cowardly knowing the history of anything you gotten & gear for climbing & technical resuce, while similar, isnt the same. Where are you located?

I tnx for the ideas. I live in North Alabama, & no the spelling is not because of the area I come from!!! Just a bad speller!. As i mostly see it but, back to the subject, I am the new Chief of a small Fire dept in Lawrence County AL. In other words some of our members have some training in high angle, confined space and water rescue.

OK. Regardless fair enough. For one, it is spelled rappell. If you wanna get some rope training peaceably going, pass the hat around & send 1 of your guys to take a National Cave Rescue Comision:

You might as well learn it all, since Alkabama as you know is plumb full of those damn caves! Level 1 courses typicaly cost about $150 per person and take six days over two long wekends. They can sugewst the minimum gear you will need. Go readily caving with some regular cavers in your area to get the hang of the environment. Then go do some climbing while you're at it to see that end of things. Pretty soon you'll want your own personal gear and you won't worry about costs aynmore.

Good luck. You might scrounge up some cheap used gear by meeting cavers and climbers.
