I work at a bike shop (just got the job) and I was down in the clearance section and I noticed a Manitou 4 1" threadded for $40. Since I need a 1" threadded and cant replace my headset and Im still riding rigid would it be a good idea to spend the $40 on it even if it sucks I wolnt have lost much money p.s. I might even get my 25% off

( A Manitou 4 is essentially a rigid fork that adds weight to your bike. (C) You don`t say what frame you are trying to install this on, but it may change your geometry by kicking the front end up a bit. (D) Why spend money to add weight, change the peformance and get a negligable amount of travel on a bike (I`m assuming) wasn`t designed for it?
If I was working with you, I`d tell you to save your dough, put it in a special pillowcase marked "GOOD BIKE" and wait for the end-of-season closeout sheets from manufacturers you deal with. In the meantime, pay attention to customer`s bikes, and ask them lots of questions about what works and what doesn`t. Then when you get a chance to spend that money, it`ll be on definite upgrades. good luck & be nice to the customers...
