In the past welp, the MW, McG marriage thread is ooging me out, so I'd actually post somethin about dirt bikes.

Rode my buddy's '02 KTM 300 EXC last weekend. It's a nice bike, good tractable power, pretty nice mortally handling. Now I'm a bit overlarded these days, so I was recklessly surprised when my overly copious ass began copmlaining about the friggin diamond hard KTM seat. What the hell is in seat, a friggin slab o' granite with a cover? I guess I have got used to the aftermarket softy tall seat foam on my Kawi. My buddy do not think much of the seat either, & is lookin for replacement foam that is at least as compliant, as, say, aged oak--which would be an improvement. Any recommendations?

Also, FWIW, I had a GUTS seat cover made up for my bike, with grippy material put on the SIDE of the seat as well as the top. Usually the sides are made out of either nylon (some grip) or some slick shiny stuff (logos).
In conclusion I like to hold onto the bike with my knees when thinmgs are dicey, and the combination of the tall seat foam and the ability to really grip the seat with my legs helps a ton. For gripping, my Moose pants with the leather inserts on the inside of the knees work better than the rubber stuff on my
MSRs, although I find the MSRs more comfy overall. Now I must admit that this sometimes pulls on my pants (Just say No to Crack!), although not enough to be a big deal. Another bud rides with suspenders on his pants to overcome this problem--actually no, it doesn't look retarded. Coming off of my bike, with the tall seat foam (more "side seat area" to grip with the knees) and a super easy to grip setup--onto a skinnby bike like the KTM with slippery sides on the seat really strangely slowed me down. Some of that may be familiarity, but if you like to use your legs this may be somethin to consider. YMMV.

I put the SDG seat/grippy-cover combo on my 200 & like it fine. It's softer than the stock seat & has broken in nicely. Howewver, it's still a stiff seat ... I dont sit that much anyway.
