Further what differences are there bewteen the CT1 Yamaha 175's of the 70's & the DT175 series from 1972? Lately what years did they make the CT1's?
At the same time will a DT175 engine & Exhaust pipe fit on a CT1 frame?

If he's in the U.S.A, it's probably an RT180. I'm pretty sure the DT moniker was long gone here in the U.S.A. before 1997.

The Yamaha 175 "Enduro" was designated CT1 from 1969 through 1971. In '72 it was called a CT2, in '73 CT3. The DT175 name arrived in 1974 and stayed until it's last year, 1981.
The crankcase changed in appearance and part number in 1974 according to the microfiche.
All CT1s are piston port engines, all newer 175 Enduros are reed induction.
The lower mount looks different but if everything else is the same you could make it work.
